Thanks for that ..
My Model is a HP pavillion DV3 2055EA
My product No is NQ540EA#ABU As for error code i don't get that far it stopped charging and i checked the power supply and found that it wasn't working correctly..Ie: not putting out the required 19v.
So i bought a new one only to find that it still didn't work and that it wouldn't charge the battery.
Thinking that maybe it was a battery problem (Although odd that both should stop working at the same time) So i ordered a new battery this came today, and as it was new it needed charging. unforunatly all it did was run flat as it wouldn't charge eventhough i know the charger is OK. At first it boots fine without problems till the battery went flat.
What happens at the moment is if i press the power button it goes to the HP boot screen and then to next screen and asks if i want to run the repair disk or start as normal. Now at his time the power LED is on and the Charging LED is flashing. Unfortunatly it isn't as after maybe 20sec's the computer just switches of as if it is flat. And it does this evertime i try it.
I did read somewhere that i could try to do a reset by disconecting the power and battery then pressing the power but for a while (i do it for around 30 sec's and a couple of times) then connect everything up and try it again. Unfortunaly it is no different at all still the same thing happens.
So i am at a loss now. One other thing my computer will not run without the battery fitted. I do know that is should but unfortunatly nothiong happens when i try it. No lights nothing.
I hope you can help me with this Problem as it is my wifes computer and she loves it. but we do not have much money at the moment so to have to buy the charger and battery has been a bit of a struggle for us.
Thanks for your time with this matter..
Anthony Morris..

I also read on these forums it could be a software problem with (Microsoft ACPI- Compliant Control Method Battery) unforunatly if this is the problem i have no way of charging my battery to get into windows to try to rectify this......
unless someone can tell me how to charge it some other way!!

Thanks for the information,
Did you purchase the replacement ac adapter from HP or did you get it from another vendor?
It sounds like it could be an issue with the AC jack which the power adapter plugs into.
If you put something inside of the jack is there anything loose inside the port?
Worst case scenario is that there is an issue with the system board.

I would think that it is a problem with the system board. It should be charging. I'm pretty sure if you charge the battery in a different computer and put it in yours it will power the unit.
The unit would need to be serviced for it to work.

A quick update this morning i left it on charge all night and this morning things have changed the lights are on ie: power plug light and charging light and it now says plugged in not charging it still say's 0% on the battery but i have had it on for 15 min's and it is still on. So now does anyone have any ideas what i could try now?? at least i can get into windows at the moment.....

Thanks for the update,
I would suggest running a BIOS update on the computer. Here is a link to the drivers and downloads for your computer. Download and run the BIOS update. It may help with this issue.
