Thanks for replying, Paul. I notice that if I reset my router, I get precisely 3 minutes of wifi connection, then it cuts out every time. So annoying.
But why will it connect in the coffee shop and not at home? The adapter obviously works, so why can't it work when I'm much nearer my own router than I would have been in the coffee shop? Doesn't really make much sense.
The driver date is 09/03/12, which is either 9 march or 3 september, depending on the date format used. If its 3 Sept, it's a day earlier than I downloaded, if it's March then it's very much earlier than I downloaded! Either way, updating the driver again gives me the message that I have the latest one.
I can't believe HP sell laptops with such a bad wifi card in them - I don't expect to have to buy a usb wifi thing and spend yet more money to try and make their product do what I bought it to do. Grrrrrrrr - I'll never buy another HP computer again.
Jonathen, I might end up having to get one of those usb wifi adapters, but I wonder if I'd possibly have the same hit and miss results? I think I'll try the retailer first (PC World) and see if they will do anything about this.I resent having to spend money to recitfy HP's problem.

Hi Paul,
I've bought Pavilion m6 1033sr just 2 weeks ago and discovered that Broadcom 4313GN disappeared from Devices manager. The liigts turns from orange to white but only Bluetooth module detected. Sometimes I catched wifi by deleting ATI Radeon or Bluetooth and rebooting. It works until I'll reboot laptop with switched WIFI on. After that it disappeared again.
Power preferces were switched to Maximum Performace. The Power Management page doesn't allow the computer to turn off the device to save power. The driver is 5.100.82.130
Is it same situation with doc01 - to change the motherboard? Is it possible on the absolutely new laptop?

I am desperate, tried this driver, my computer (Netbook) lists the card as a Broadcomm, but HP drivers shows a Qualmcomm card update. I am not familiar enough to know if those are the same. I could get some connectivity before but now just is X'd out.

Hi, Lynncat:
The easiest thing to do is to go to the device manager, and under the network adapters section you should see two network adapters listed--a wired one and a wireless one.
The wireless adapter will be made by Atheros, Broadcom, Intel, Ralink or Realtek.
If the wireless card is not listed there, then it should be listed as a network controller in the device manager with a little yellow ! mark which means it is missing the driver.
Click on that and post the hardware ID for it.
If you don't know how to find a hardware ID, please read the info at the link below.
If you are seeing anything related to Qualcomm, that is also Atheros. I think Qualcomm bought Atheros a while back.
If that is the case a Broadcom driver will not work on a Qualcomm Atheros wireless card.

Both Real Tek and Broadcom show as enabled, and working properly, I have now reinstalled the Real Tek driver and updated to the driver posted and am having the same issues. Connects but no internet, or no connections showing, or it connects and I can get on line, then drops off and says no internet. I'm stumped.
Right now after reinstalling drivers, it's showin Limited access on my router. Everytime I check the PCI and Lan they are enabled but disconnected.
Thanks so much for any help you can provide.
