I have an Notebook Pavilion dv7 -6c00
Two days ago I Installed Adobe Premiere, and when I try to run it i get a error message that says somethink like they can't find a video module, I google it, and some people says that I have just to update my Graphics card driver. So I go to AMD page, and download the last catalyst control..

Since then I can't open firefox, Games, and other thinks because Load MMdriver crash and when I try to open Catalyst control it's the same.

I try:

- To install de original drivers with the Recovery manager. (nothing happen)

- Uninstall the catalyst control... was the same...

- To Restore the system with Windows Restore point... and then I get a error and it delete my point of restore, and don't solve the problem eather...

¿So what I have to do? I read this topic: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video/Update-to-windows-8-1-Load-MMdriver-not-resp...

They recommend to install that drivers in that order, I already download the driver for my specific model... but I'm worry about that "update" will crash another things.... Which is the solution to this problem?

This is a picture from google that shows my notebook model, (just to comfirm my model Pavilion Dv7-6c00).

Hi @Kailcor,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I see you have had some problems after installing Adobe premiere and then trying to update you driver from AMD. I am happy to help you with this. Firstly, please verify whether your OS was Windows 7 (64-bit) or Windows 8 (64-bit). If you need help in finding that see the following: Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

You mention that you have already tried to do a system recovery and then a system restore, and unfortunate order. Normally you would do the system restore first, as it uses the restore points saved by your OS so you can go back to an earlier software configuration and use a known good setup. System recovery, is more invasive.

You mention that after each of the things you tried nothing happened. Were there not even any error messages, of any kind? The only one you mention is the one after trying system restore, but it was likely that the restore point was already gone after trying the system recovery.

Do you have a set of recovery disks to use?

See the following pages for System Recovery:
Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 😎
Troubleshooting HP System Recovery Problems (Windows 😎
Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)
Troubleshooting HP System Recovery Problems (Windows 7)

If you cannot recover from your computer directly and do not have a set of recovery disks, then you may need to obtain then from HP. Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive

Otherwise I would recommend calling into technical phone support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

Well First, Thank you a lot for answering.
My OS is Windows 7 (64 bits). Sorry I forgot to put it in the message.

I did not explaing mysell correctly. I did not the Recovery System from the partition yet, I just did the System Restore from a Restore's point. (EDICTION: more exactly, The AMD Driver from AMD web pages, also install the Microsoft Visuall C++ 2000, and maybe it was my biggest mistake, to choose it like the point to restore, and not before it... from that point it start the problems, when The restore finished it's said something like: "There was a error, and the restore couldn't complet... but it's indeed restore, but it erased the rest of restore points. I also have to add that It wasn't the first time that I restore, I mean, I install one driver from AMD and like I doesn't let me to run Adobe premiere, I restore to another point, and try another Actualization of Catalyst control manager, and it's in that moment, when it eather solve the problem, when I restore to the point when Visual c++ 2000 was installed, an all my nightmare begins)..

When I mention the Recovery I was talking about HP Recovery Manager, it let me reinstall the original drivers without the reformat/recovery the laptop. I used it to reinstal the original AMD Driver... but it doesn't solve the problem.
I did not the recovery because I would prefer not to have to reinstall all my programs. (But it's the ultimate solution XD).

I figure out that maybe the problem is in the Intel's Graphics Driver, (I didn't mention it, but my laptop has switchable Graphics, I think that's how it's called XD). I think that's the problem because when I used the HP Recovery Manager to reinstall my Intel's Graphics Driver I get this Error:

Also I can open the programs that I mention just when I go to Divice Manager and Disable or Unistall that Intell Graphics Drive (but it reinstall automatic when I: "Right click > scan for driver changes"). I can't find it in the "Add or Remove Programs" so I can't unistall the driver to prove with the HP Recovery Manager.

http://s29.postimg.org/g0r05dhzr/Untitled.jpg (Device Manager picture that shows my graphics Drivers, selected the one that I think it's the problem).

Then I don't know what to do. I really don't want to Recovery the pc, with the Recovery partition. I would prefer to try another options before (if exist any).

Thanks for Aswering, and excuse me my english, I'm not native... like I think you already guess. XD If I didn't explain somethin well I will try no explaing it better .

PD: When i have the intel driver Active, I get the message: " --Programs-- has stopped working" The --programs-- can be: Catalyst control, Skyrim (game), the HP Recovery Manager It's self, Firefox, and any thing that could use the graphics card (I don't get it why it happened with the HP Recovery Manager app that I shows in the picture... but it happened, i have to Disable the driver to get printscreen....

PD2: Sorry I didn't mention all this in the first post, I was a little hurry when I writed it.

Hello again @Kailcor,

And thank you for your information it is very helpful. With what I had from your first post I was left with little but system recovery, but now we have some more room to try things. And to your english, it is nothing to worry about, I am sure I would do far worse in your language. 😄

I spent a bit of time looking for a good process that should help prevent the driver from being automatically reinstalled on you from device manager. Type this which I found on Hubpages.

Disable Automatic Driver Installation

That should allow you to uninstall your graphics driver that seems to be the problem. Then I would update your driver from the HP support page for your notebook and see if that helps.

Let me know what happens after you try that.

Hi again, well I sucessfull uninstall the Intel's Driver... but.. I get this error when I try to install the driver from the Hp Page:

http://s27.postimg.org/3tkgrylc3/Untitled.png

It doesn't have sense, The message doesn't say what are the requeriments that I don't meet...
Obviously, I don't think that is hardware the problem, maybe there's something like a library (Something like visual C++ 2000) to start the installer... But it doesn't say it. (I have Visual C++ 2012 anyway, and only catalyst need it... but there's anything else that I could need to install the driver?

With everest I get this information, for more details:

I just read this other post:

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/Intel-R-HD-Graphics-Family-built-in-motherboard-and-A...

He had almost the same problem than me, and they say to install the AMD driver from HP, because it has the Intel Components included in the installer, and that's why I can't install Intel's graphics apart... so I  install the AMD driver from HP page again. it actually installed Intel Components but the problem persists...

I pay atention to another thing: When catalyst control crashed in the start of my pc, another message apear:
Load MMdriver has stopped working.... Which function has this MMDriver? (it's from AMD, and I think it has the work of load all the drivers needed for the Catalyst Control work...).
