I have the same problem with my HP Pavillion dv9700. Some lights on the keyboard flash briefly when pushing the power button but it doesn't come on. Removing the battery for 5 minutes does nothing. Any other suggestions?

Flash the Bios of your laptop. Check the current version by going into CMOS settings by pressing F12, or esc key depending on your brand. Once there, write down your product number, along with the bios version, and then go to the manufacturers website and select software and drivers download after you enter the information the site requests. Once there, it should have an update for the bios. At least mine did, and it worked perfectly because I was having the same issue. Good Luck!

I've had my hp for bout 6 years and I havent touched it since feb. Due to the fact that it wouldnt stay on for more than 3-5 minutes at most... even plugged in. And now, I'm getting ready to sell it so I wanted to see if I could get it to turn on, and it wont. The lights blink and then theres this little 'pop' sound and then it shuts back down.. I've tried every suggestion I've found and nothing is working. How can i fix this? Or what would it cost to fully repair it?

I tried my laptop last night and it wouldnt turn on when connected to the AC adapter, I figured the battery was completly dead, so I plugged it in last night and tried again this morning.I used it last week and it was fine, the battery level was low and I apparently never plugged it in. The indicator light where the AC plugs into turns orange and blinks when I press the power button but still nothing. I tried taking the battery out letting it sit and going thru the steps noted but still nothing. Its about 2.5 years old so the warranty is no longer valid either. Maybe I need a new battery? I need this to work as its the only computer in my house. Please help

@bls0426,
I understand your notebook does not turn on.
Is the AC port indicator light the only light activity you see when trying to turn the unit on? Is it able to turn on with just the charger connected and battery removed? If not, then the issue is most likely not the battery.

Hi yes it is the only light on, it blinks when i try to power up. It will not turn on at all.. Plugged in or not... Ive never ahd this happen, Like i said I used it over the weekend, placed it on a table and have not touched it again until last night when I needed to print something.
