Here is a document that will help to find the model number and the product number:

The one you provided seems to be the sticker part number of Microsoft COA sticker.

Yes, you're right, that is the Microsoft tag. There is no HP tag but I followed your link and have this:

HP G62 Notebook

S/N [removed for user safety]

Please try installing the latest driver available through the following weblink:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp49501-50000/sp49527.exe

Also install the Software support from the following weblink:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp47001-47500/sp47022.exe

Vidya,

Those updates had no effect. The problem is still present.

Vidya,

In previous driver updates that I did, upon uninstalling and rebooting Microsoft updater came on to locate a driver and I stopped it and then installed your drivers. I decided to try this again only let it go through. It seemed to install and the system said that the device was working properly. I could not pait up with the laptop from the BB. However, when I looked at the BB desktop manager, selection of bluetooth was now available. This confirms that it is in fact an issue with the HP driver.

I uninstalled the MS driver and reinstalled the HP and have the system back to the way it was.

Vidya,

I am assuming that I may have an issue with this computer that there is no remedy for from HP. Is that true?

I would suggest you uninstall the existing drivers. Restart the system and let microsoft fetch the drivers which might help you resolve the issue.

Vidya,

I did that already, 2 times. When I use the HP driver I can easily pair up the phone and laptop but the BB desktop software does not recognize this connection. When I use the MS driver, the phone and laptop will not pair up but the BB desktop no longer has the bluetooth section greyed out. Neither of them work.

I can only surmise that the reason that HP didn't use the standard MS driver is because there are some differences in their bluetooth hardware design that had to be accommodated. Why would they write a new driver when they have a free one available? Since BB assumes MS compliance, when the HP driver is used, the BB desktop can't communicate with the HP driver.

This would make the HP driver and Ralink Motorola Bluetooth chipset non-Microsoft compliant although when I look at the specifications for each, they are certified to be Microsoft compliance.

Now, it's really not that big of a deal for me as I can synchronize the devices with a cable. But I must either buy another cable or have to dig behind my dresser everytime I want to sync. I don't expect HP to make a driver mod just for me. The bigger problem I see is that Blackberry has a lot of users and your Bluetooth implementation does not support BBs. In addition, I am compelled to go onto BB and Crackberry message boards and post my experience as that is what we do for each other.

I was planning to purchase this same computer for my son for college this fall. Now I will simply give him this one and purchase another brand.

I successfully installed my Motorola S9 headset after installing the Broadcom drivers.  I might add that I have a HDX18(32 bit   with Win7.

I went  to START -> SEARCH->type in  "sound"

Disengage all the devices except the S9 headset icon  Engage the  S9 by right clicking to bring up the window and adding a checkmark to the appropriate item. . Use the test button to see if you were successful.

I am assuming that you have pared the S9 and are familiar with the controls.

Hope this helps.

Hi Vidya,

i'm currently running a nc 6320 under Windows 7 and I have troubles with the standard windows 7 bluetooth drivers. Exist newer drivers, then the old vista-packages from 2006 for the nc6320?

Thanks a lot for your help

Florian
