Clicking on the hp support page for the sound not working on my pavilion dv6, I saw the post that stated "solved".  I followed the instructions given, and once I've restarted the notebook and let Windows fully load, I'm having problems.  I've clicked on the IDT installer and selected "run as administrator".  I get a message that states that the installer is not compatable with my hardware.

Where do I go from here?

I just used 'Restore my computer to an earlier time' as the problem occurred after an HP System Update. All works fine now. Doubtless the next update will just mess things up again, but so far so good.

Hi,

I followed your suggestion and it worked. I do have sound coming from the speakers as long as I plug in headphones. At that time, I then have sound coming from both. If I unplug the headphones, the sound stops.

What else can I do?

Thanks for any help!

Brandon
