Hi agriksatish,
I understand even if you press the wireless button the light stays orange. So I can better assist you, I will need the following information:
- What is the model/product number of your notebook?
- What is the operating system running on your notebook?
Looking forward to your response.
Thank you,

So, I've got two problems, one has to do with the Wi-Fi, I guess the card may be faulty.
I bought a HP ProBook 4520s laptop, three years ago, and in July, current year[2013], while browsing the internet, my wifi button just changed orange and I couldn't change it back on, the card is not seen by windows [Windows 7 Ultimate 64x] does not appear in Device Manager list, does not appear in Windows Mobility Center, does not appear anywhere, just like it isn't installed as a hardware.
Second problem will be posted in the specific thread. Hope that you can help. Thank you!

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/ .

Even though HP did not rush to solve my problem, neither reply of any sorts, I've solved it alone with the help of some friends over an electro-related forum. The cable was loosely connected to my videocard, I had to push it a bit and now [at least, it's been 5 days since] it's all okay, no flickering, no lines.
About the WiFi problem. I'll have to buy another one, but with HP's originality, it seems that I'll have to order a card with HP P/N because the BIOS will not recognize it if it's another make. And since Romania is so well covered in HP spare parts, it seems that I'll have to order one from another country.

I went from bios F.09 to F.20 and it solved my wireless button on keyboard from not being able to turn on/off. I'm not sure why this helped, as the description of bios update doesn't mention this issue, but it did work for me. You have to install the HP tools partition using their HP UEFI Update softpaq. Then, you have to find the F.09 older bios on the internet, as it won't be listed on the support page. You cannot upgrade to latest bios as they changed the coding or something and you must update to F.20 before upgrading to the latest bios F.50. I chose not to update to latest bios as my wifi is working and YOU CANNOT DOWNGRADE FROM F.50 BIOS IF IT BREAKS ANYTHING (it is probably the last update going to be released as well)!

Here's what worked for me:
As FoxOne (and I think one other person) suggested, press "windows key" + "X" to get into the Windows Mobility Center. For me, the "Turn Wireless On" button was greyed out so I couldn't click it. What did work though was going to the section titled "Integrated Card Command" (or something, I can't qute remember), and from the dropdown menu select "Turn ComboCard On". I just waited a minute or so, and then the wi-fi icon on the windows bar showed that I was connected. Also, the wireless enable key next to F12 had an amber light before the fix and afterward it turned bright blue. Hope this helps!
P.S. I would suggest not doing anything with the BIOS until you've tried the simpler options.
