You don't really need to go to that 9.5 old driver, version 10 will do! 🙂

I went with version 9 just because it was what HP listed as the "latest" compatible driver, but it sounds like version 11 is the one causing the issue.

But I'm trying to avoid doing that and making further significant changes to my computer until I'm convinced it has been permanently successful for HP Envy 15 users.

Revert to 8.1, upgrade back to 10 from the microsoft website worked for my Envy 17 k-100

edit- AND- I just checked my IMEI driver- its OLD, from 2013. Happy to leave it that way.

Makes 100% total sense to me that this has always been the actual issue, I'd recommend everyone try rolling back this driver before resorting to the whole ->8.1 and back to 10 path.

The IME driver rollback seems to work also for me. Tried sleep and reboot only twice, but I'll keep reporting the situation. I tried to put the pc into sleep even while writing this message. All good. Woke up moving the mouse and also by pushing the power button. Now I'll try a full shutdown. Fingers crossed

I also did this.  So far, it works perfectly (laptop's only been on a few hours, but all the other tricks I've tried never lasted that long).  My next test is to let the computer sleep on its own after a few hours.  Also remember guys, if you are updating or rolling back anything, make sure you disable your Windows Update so that it doesn't undo what you're trying to test.

Control Panel >> Adminstrative Tools >> Services >> Windows Update, open and then select Disable.

It went to sleep after I timed it for two hours and woke up just perfectly.  It has NEVER done that before since I was following this thread.  I really hate to jinx myself, but this may be it.  Now, to just let it run for the rest of the night and do a lid close.  If it works after THAT... well, I think I'll be crushed if it screws up again tomorrow.  😛

I'd recommend changing that setting to Manual rather than Disabled.

If it's set to Manual, driver and software updates will not install automatically but you can still search for them and install the ones you want manually.

If it's set to Disabled, you will be unable to search for or install any driver or software updates manually.

I set it to Manual, used the "Show or Hide Updates" Troubleshooter Package to block updates for the flawed drivers, then set it back to Automatic (Delayed Start).

I'm still in the early phases of testing, but this is the most hopeful I've been yet that we've found a true resolution.  For the time being, the three main issues I've been dealing with on my Evny 15 x360 seem to be resolved:

- able to sleep and shut down properly (for now... but of course this problem has resurfaced many times before)

- able to remain connected to Wifi networks

- able to maintain touchpad settings between sessions

If all three of these issues still seem to be gone for me after the next few days, I'll post a guide on how to resolve them for other users who have upgraded to Windows 10.

It was Zoomelliott who narrowed it down specifically to the EMI driver and Sibu16 who moved us in the direction of specific Intel drivers.  A (hopefully not premature!) thank you to both of them, as well as to re4med and everyone else who's been joining us in basically becoming unpaid HP customer support specialists.  😉

Yeah, I figured, but I'm being overly cautious here.

And if this turns out to be it, then yes, thank you Zoo and Sibu!

EVERYONE IT IS TIME TO REJOICE

I've been following this hopeless thread since day 1, but we must suffer no more. Go to your settings and check for updates, because a cumulative update was just released that fixes all of the power options!!! Spread the word! It's incredible! I just tested both sleep mode and shutting down and my computer does everything perfectly! I think our nightmare is finally over.

I got to say, the Windows Update has yet to address this issue.  Remember, whenever you update, roll back or do any kind of change, you have to run your computer for a few hours at least before you start testing.  Your computer will always behave normally shortly after a restart.

9.5.14.1724 (19/08/2013) was the laest for W8.1 for my Split x2 now been on all day and been working just fine.

One of the irritating aspect to the Windows Update Troubleshooter where you can hide or install updates is that it does not tell you much more than the name of the update.  For instance, in my list I have the IME driver some of you have been talking about here. However, I do not know what version it is so I blocked it from updating.

9.5.24.1790 is my current version.  Who knows which one is coming at me from Windows Update but I am not going to allow it in at this time.

EDIT:  From what I am reading on some other tech forums the IME is a useless piece 'o garbage and used for remote access for admins, etc.  Some have simply DISABLED it altogether. Hmmm....

One on WU is 11. somthing well it was for me.

Yup, just blocking it with that tool should do the trick. Version 11 is what it wants to install now, but that should permanently block it from installing ANY version without your permission.
