I've sucessfully installed the following new drivers & softwares for Windows 10 from the HP's website:
- Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver
- Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver
- HP Wireless Button Driver
- Alps Touchpad Driver
- Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver
- HP 3D DriveGuard Software (HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection)
- HP Support Assistant Software
I failed to install Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver , my laptop shows a warning "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". I don't know why, the website said that this driver is for windows 10.
But, my laptop is fine now. I can shutdown (with fast startup mode) and sleep normally.
I've been run my laptop for more that 4 hours and so far so good.
I'll report it again if something goes wrong.

Have you checked the release dates for those drivers? I downloaded some yesterday and the website said they were released as of yesterday but when I checked the actual file, their just old drivers. I'm not sure why that's happened. But anyways, it fixed things for me for most of the day but then the problem eventually just comes back.

@ robin_1973: Thanks for sharing what worked for you, but keep in mind this issue is impacting thousands and thousands of users across many different HP models. The specific graphic adaptors you listed are not compatible with many of these models (including mine), and there remains to date no permanent fix to this issue that works across the board.
@ Meteorian: It's fine to install the 3D DriveGuard update, but it will not fix this particular issue. DriveGuard is the software that protects your computer's hard drive in case of a drop.
The only updates HP lists as compatible with Windows 10 for my Envy x360 model are DriveGuard and the HP Support Assistant... but the version of Support Assistant they list is a very old one.
@ happygirl2: Thanks for the update! That's the most promising news we've heard yet. Glad you were able to connect with someone who actually sounds like he was fully aware of the issue and in the loop on a fix that's in development.

Be careful trying updated drivers guys. I completely uninstalled and deleted mine this morning to force a completely fresh install of my Intel drivers, and a few hours later I got a BSOD with the error Unexpected Store Exception. A Google seach turns up that i's related to... you guessed it. A driver problem. Just wanted to let everyone know since a lot of us are trying driver updates to try and fix the crrashing on sleep/shutdown problem!

- Go to New, and click on Shortcut.
- For “Type the location of the item,” input this: shutdown /p
- Click Next.
- Name the shortcut by your wish
- Right-click the shortcut on from your desktop and click Properties.
- Change the icon of the shortcut by your desire, just for the aesthetic reasons
- Pin the shortcut to your start menu and you’re good to go

On my PC at home I tried advice from Shawn Keene and it worked. I did the "power options" suggestion and my PC shutdown and stayed shutdown.
Head to your manufacturer's website and look for the APCI driver (Advanced Power Control Interface driver). Sometimes it's not labeled as clearly as that, but that's what you're lacking for Windows to be able to 'talk to' your power controller.
Also consider the option to disable fast startup. This feature uses a subset of hibernation, and turning off the fast-boot might help. You can find this in control panel > power options > change what the power buttons do
