Hi All,

Just try this new Intel HD driver (win10x64):

It's working for me - the sleep is working properly after sereveral restarts (HP Envy 15)... 😉

Paul

Well restarting first isn't achieving anything. It just seems as though it's doing the exact same thing as a hard shutdown except it also starts back up again which is pointless and time consuming. So you might aswell save yourself the hassle and just do the hard shutdown yourself.
As for the damage of a hard shutdown. I really don't know! It seems to me that after clicking shutdown, it go's into the process of doing so and I can only hope that it's managed to complete most of what it needed to do before it reaches the point where it crashes, this would mean that we're getting a sort of "half shut down" which should minimise any damage. But either way it's something that definitely needs fixed!

Well, I already had this driver, but i have no problem while using sleep command. But rather with hibernate(if enabled) and shut down. Everything I do, puts my laptop to a semi-sleep condition, if i use it for a longer duration, even before this driver and after installing this as well.

Hi Sibu16,

Ok, in my case that was the solution (after 4 sleep-wakeup, 4 hibernate-wakeup, 4 shut down, 4 restart - everything is fine now).

It' a very annoying bug...

Just got an update via the HP Support Assistant thing 15 or so minutes ago, but this is the first time I've gotten one on Windows 10 and I'm not sure if this is something they have sent out recently. I'll post the results about an hour or so later if whatever was in the update fixed the issue. Not sure if the HP Assistant ever has done fixed stuff like this, but you never know.

Well, looks like it didn't work, but it seems that my device stayed on all night, though while unplugged from battery. Could it still somewhat be doing sleep mode without being in it, or could it just be because the screen was blank? I think I passed out last night or just closed the lid right before I passed out instead of testing out the shutdown process. Just to clarify, when the update of updates comes and it if were from HP, would it have been from the HP Support Assistant or would it be something we would have to download from their site? I know for Microsoft it's just the Windows Updates.

Turns out my solution only worked for a couple of days, and now my laptop is back to not fully shutting down or waking up from sleep. Has anyone found a solution yet?

Well from what I've gathered, it's starting to seem as though Microsoft are responsible for the update of drivers. So we're waiting for a Windows update, rather than an HP update. Whatever we're waiting for though it would of been nice if someone from HP had of stated that in the first place though, especially on this thread...

I am currently on a remote session with HP Tech Support. He assures me this can be fixed. I will report back.  It will be interesting to see if he tries what I have already tried numerous times. 🙂

Anyone want to take odds as to whether it gets fixed? 🙂

UPDATE:  He is downloading an updated BIOS to the Win10 installation from the 8.1 LIST of drivers.   BIOS upgrade begun.  Still not convinced but it sure won't hurt to have it updated. 🙂

9:15 AM -- Flash BIOS complete.  What a nerve-wracking experience. I figure if the BIOS flash is going to fail let the HP tech guy do it.  If so, they are responsible. 🙂

10:19 AM -- BIOS flash fixed two issues (SLEEP and RESTART).  Ths restart was much different than before.   Prior to the flash BIOS upgrade the restart would literally power off for 3 secs then restart. This time the power light never went off and it rebooted as it should. Maybe we are getting somewhere.

10:21 AM -- I am going to post the full text of the conversation and the steps taken with the HP tech support person at the completion.  Note also that I am having him look at the Touchpad issue (resets on reboot when an external mouse is detected).

10:23 AM -- two successful restarts/reboots and behaving as it should. No reverting back to Win8.1 (never thought this was the solution).

I enter to Device Manager, scan for software updates and my Intel HD Graphics dowload an update to 10.18.15.4248.

Someone updated too?
