...So, now that you have been educated on the language. Get over it.  We are not going to constantly type "Download Tool" every time we need to refer to it.  Maybe we should just call it the DT instead of ISO and further confuse people. :TongueOut:

How about just calling it using the Microsoft Download Windows 10 web page?

Anyway, just to be 100% clear, you did this and it didn't work for you, correct?

I'd still like to get more people to say yes/no on whether this solved it for them.

YES!!!!! A Solution that worked.  Spread the news.  It has to do with the Intel Virtualization Tehnology. Didn't know what that was until this issue came up in Windows 10.

And you have run your computer how long before you declared victory? This fact is critical- almost anything will provide short term results- even a simple reboot.

Sorry, Intel VT has nothing to do with this, it will only be for use if you're running an OS within WIndows 10, it's like most other solutions, test it for a few more hours and it will be back. I would test the back to W8.1 and then upgrade again, but I don't wanna redo all my W10 settings or risk my media files.

to be fair the use of the word ISO confused me as well.....I thought people meant doing an image on usb

I did it directly from the media creation tool .....and 5 days now my laptop is working fine with no issues at all

That exact thing worked for me as well.  HP Pavilion x360 13.  I had updated the BIOS when Windows 10 was installed.  It didn't seem to help so I reverted back to 8.1.  Could not login to 8.1 so had to do a system refresh.  Then once I got into 8.1 I did the Win 10 upgrade using the tool you are referring to.  After about 5 hours of installing 143+ updates all has worked well for me for 6 days now.

I intend on giving it another few days or maybe a week to see if there's any sign of a fix otherwise I'll be going back to 8.1 aswell. I don't want to face defeat but I'm losing my sanity with all this **bleep**.

I eventually managed to fix my wifi problem by going into the advanced settings of my network card driver and changing the wifi config from performance, to wifi. This has been a Windows 10 change and only seems to be a problem when I'm running on battery power. I thought I'd mention it incase anyone else has intermittent wifi speed.

Ok so I can turn on my laptop and in the first 40 or so minutes everything is fine. Shutdown and sleep works.

Its after I leave the laptop on for so long that it then stops working. I wonder why is that?

Maybe it's something to do that the laptop gets hotter or more memory is getting used up causing a software to not respond? It's worrying that microsoft or HP hasn't found a solution yet.

Maybe it has something to do with one of the proccesses or services on the task manager.

I don't know.

I have been tracking this post for quite a while and wasted too much time trying to read and try the many solutions that was mentioned in here. I have decided to revert back to windows 8.1 and will not go back to windows 10 until October. Pretty sure the issue will be resolved by that time.

The reason why I'm saying all this is so you guys can do the same as I did. Thanks to those in here that tried to help but its getting to a point where we need to wait on HP/Microsoft to release a fix. So stop trying to play tech and waste time for others. It just ends up getting their hopes up and becomes more stressful for them.  If anything at least test it out for a few days w/o restarting or shutting down. lol.

I am back on Windows 8.1.  Have been for a few hours.  Installed some software.  No issues.  Sleep works.

Tired of the problems....

However, I am going to install from ISO - (the DOWNLOAD TOOL for the users who cannot understand).  If it works, I will be glad.  If not, I will be right.  🙂  I can always go back again if it fails.

For the record, I will gladly admit I was wrong -- at least for my system, if it does work.  However, others have tried it this way and it has not worked.  At any rate, off to update some things and see what happens next.

...anyway, off to install some things.

First, find out if this is your issue.

1. I installed the 'Intel Processor Identification Utility' directly from Intel.

2. After installation, open the program and go to the 'CPU Technologies' tab.

3. If it says 'YES' for Intel Virtualization Tehnology, proceed.

Solution...(at least on my system)

1. The next thing you have to do is go into the BIOS.  If you have not done this before, proceed at your own risk.

You need to restart the computer and enter the BIOS (for me I hit F10 at the HP screen)

2. Within the BIOS, there is an 'Advanced Options' section

3. In this section there is a line for 'Intel Virtualization Tehnology' and it will say enabled or disabled.  My computer said disabled.

4. If this is the case, change the option to 'ENABLED'; then SAVE and EXIT from the BIOS.

The Computer will restart and from that point on Shut Down, Sleep, etc. has worked.  WOW this was a frustrating issue. Almost went back to Windos 8.  I take no credit for this solution, I pieced it together from other posts on this issue.  Hope this helps.

Well, I'm going to try this.  I've done just about everything else I can think of, but I'll wililng to try anything even if I'm not confident in it working (which I'm pretty sure this will not work).  Will return tomorrow with results.
