In my case with F.23 latest bios installed and with windows 8, I'm not able to turn on/off both wifi and bluetooth.

If wifi is on, bluetooth is disabled, after restart wifi will be disabled and bluetooth turns on.

I have installed unusable wireless button driver, no use.

Once I downgrade bios to F.05, all problems will be gone and the gaming performance reduces.

Also with that buggy F.23 BIOS, gaming performance in good but the laptop becomes very hot.

Please release new bios. Solve our issues.

I'm not able to use bluetooth and wifi because of your bug BIOS. F.23.

I have HP Pavilion g6 2005ax.

Hp customer support couldn't help.

Don't update drivers or wireless key driver.
Release new bios like F.05 and solve the problem immediately.

I think that these geniuses at HP came up with a BIOS for Win 8 that is making my CPU overheat. The fan can`t stop spinning.

{Content Removed} HP support. Can you do something right?

So I read everything here and HP has only suggested to install that driver... well, let me tell how this problem occured to me.

I have Compac Presario CQ57 and the first OS'es I had were WIN7 and Ubuntu. When WIN8 came out, I installed it on. Everything was working flawlessly. Drivers were installed automatically and I had no problems. Even the wireless button worked.

Since I started to have bluescreens (one of WIN8 updates screwed my system so up) that I had to reinstall WIN8.

So, I did and I started to also update my drivers. So I thought "Hey, let's update my HP drivers too" and I did it. I tried to find my drivers on white backgrounded HP driver site, but nothing. So finally I stumbled upon this site here (my PC drivers). So I downloaded them, installed and everything were okay. I wanted to update my bluetooth device too (since I have no drivers) and tried to turn on my wireless connection. Pressed my F12 key (I don't need to hold on Fn button, it's set that way) - nothing, still red. Pressed again - still nothing! So I started to press it furiously, nothing nothing nothing.

I started to read this thread and saw people also have the same problem. Some of here got the solution by applying Wireles Button Update. Tried it - didn't work for me.

Yeah, now I sit here like a stupid duck and waiting for a solution, because someone up there in HP {Content Removed} up.. Or did I? I have no idea.

So, here is the problem.
- My 'wireless connection button' does not work
- under PC Settings my "wifi" turn on/off option is grayed out (might have found solution)

So, I rebooted my PC, went under BIOS and loaded deafult settings. Then I saved and turned my PC back on. I went under "PC Settings" and VOILA, I was able to make it work. But I'm not going to cheer too much, because People here said they got this option too, but with a another reboot it was gone (I'm applying some updates atm, so I can't restart).

But the button (F12) is still not working. And the 'Wireless button update' will be useless to, if it changes only "airplane mode' ON/OFF, since I have mobile broadband too. So now, if I want to use my wifi or bluetooth, I have to enable it manually! If I use Mobile Broadband, I turn off wifi because why I need it then. If I don't use it, I turn on wifi... Getting that F12 to turn on/off wireless network is useless!

And yes, when I turn on Airplane Mode, the Mobile Broadband is turned off..

So..
First time I had WIN8 without HP updates - wireless button worked flawlesly
Second time I had WIN8 with HP updates - no juice

I'm going to reboot my PC now and I will let you know, if I can change my WiFi router on/off in PC settings or no.

So yeah, it works under PC settings (WIN + I - PC settings - Wireless - Wifi [It's 4 steps to here!!!])

So I suggest everyone to do this
- Reboot your PC
- Bring up your BIOS

- Go on the "exit" or whatever the last panel is
- "Load deafult settings" (the third one)
- Save settings and return

This worked for me. I think you guys should try this out too..

If not, there should be something about "Built in devices" in BIOS and there you are able to Enable it (well I read it some pages before, but I didn't find that opinion (or I didn't look carefully enough)).

But HP... Do we really have to say 'Good Bye' to our Fn+F12 button, which was about turning on/off wifi and bluetooth and other wireless connection? Should we say "R.I.P Fn+F12 - You were the most useful shortcut ever" and do we have to now use 4-step bluetooth and wifi enabling/disabling?

Please answer. So if the answer is "Yes", I can scratch off that 'wireless' sticker and apply 'airplane' sticker. And of course, then I can drink for our fallen comrade Fn+F12 shortcut named "Wireless on/off".

Hello.

I think I have to say I also solved my bluetooth wireless problem with "Load system deafults" in BIOS. Before I wasn't able to install my BT drivers, but now I was able.

So yeah, Loading deafults in BIOS really worked for me (With BT and greyed out Wifi settings in 'PC settings')

It was much easier than we thought
Go to Control panel/ Network and Internet/ network and Sharing Center/ View network status and tasks/Troubleshoot problem/ Network adapter and the computer will find and fix the turn off wifi problem for you.
I really dont like win 8 but coz it was in my laptop when i purchased it so just decided to stay w it
Good luck ^.^

I just got done chatting with HP and I was told that there will be a driver available on this website within the next 15 days.  They say this will be for the G series, but I think everyone should check their respective driver pages.

Like vascon said: Drag your finger on the mouse pad so the menu pops up from the right. Click on settings and then on "Change PC settings" at the bottom. Now click on wireless and you will be able to switch it on or off. Problem solved.

You must read this topic carefully. Not all users can turn on this "switch". Many peoples have this grey and can´t click on it.
