No worries. Thanks for letting me know the results.

Before doing anything else, also try your connection with an Ethernet cable plugged directly between your computer and router.

If you get the same result, then try (temporarily) uninstall the other two, CCleaner and Defraggler. I know both of those are legitimate programs. I've used them before myself, but they may be contributing to this particular issue.

Double-check to make sure there are no other PC Cleaner or other programs that may have a firewall running. You could also try booting into Safe Mode to see if your Ethernet or wireless connections work in Safe Mode (where no 3rd party programs, nothing but the bare essentials run).

To boot into Safe Mode:

1. Shutdown

2. Press and hold F8. Keep holding it down.

3. Press the Power button to turn the computer on. Keep holding F8 down until you see a prompt for Safe Mode.

4. Enter Safe Mode with Networking

5. Try connecting with Wireless. Then disconnect and also try connecting with an Ethernet cable.

Are other devices able to connect to the network?

I have my PC connected through ethernet and works alright. My friend tried to connect to wifi with his laptop yesterday. He had connected without problem.

I tried to unninstal the other two programs with no success. It doesn't worked.

I also tried to boot into Safe Mode. Nothing changed.

Ok so I have misunderstood then, because in your original post you said that neither wireless nor Ethernet were working.

"When i plug ethernet in my laptop, internet connection is not working too."

So it is just your wireless that has the issue then. I'll need to know your

  • Product Number,
  • BIOS Version and
  • Brand and Model Number of your Wireless Card
  • Wireless Driver Version number

Press FN + ESC to find your product number (P/N) and BIOS version (F.##).

To find your wireless card information:

1. [Windows 8] Press Windows key + X

[Windows 7] Click Start and type 'device'

2. Click Device Manager

3. Expand Network Adapters

4. Double-click on the line that says 'wireless'/'WiFi'/'802.11'

5. Click the Driver tab and let me know which version number is shown there. I'll check to see if it is up-to-date.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Wirelss Driver

6. Click the Uninstall button, click OK and Restart Now when prompted.

During the restart, Windows will automatically detect and reinstall the missing driver. This should sort out any software issues if the driver is up-to-date. If it is not, I'll link you to the latest version available on your HP Driver Page.

Sorry, my english is bad :indifferent: .

Both connections aren't working.

Product number: A9X36EA#ABZ

BIOS: Insyde F.53, 24.10.2012

Model number of Wireless Card: Realtek RTL8188CE ( I am not sure, if its the number you need)

Wireless Driver Version number: 1005.24.712.2011

No worries. Your wireless driver is up-to-date at 1005.24.712.2011.

You do have a BIOS update. If neither wireless nor Ethernet is working on that computer, you'll need to use a different computer to download and save the BIOS installation file to a USB flash drive. Then put the USB flash drive in the affected computer and install the BIOS update.

BIOS version F.6A

If after the BIOS update you still can't connect wirelessly or by Ethernet cable, I would suggest either a Microsoft System Restore to an earlier date (if the issue started within the past month or so). If the issue has been going on for a long time, back up your personal files and perform a Recovery from the Recovery Manager. After the Recovery (reinstalls Windows and original drivers), TEST your wireless and Ethernet connections immediately, before loading any other programs. That will give you an idea of whether this is a hardware issue or an issue with the previously mentioned security softwares conflicting with each other.

I have downloaded the file, put it on flash drive and tried to install on laptop.

File don't even start instalation and wrote: The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try it again.

Did you safely eject the flash drive or just pull it out? Delete the old file and re-download it directly to the flash drive.

Ok, BIOS updated, but ethernet and wireless still isn't working.
