You need to update the BIOS, there should be a fix in the most recent version to help resolve this issue for you.

Oh, my Gawd! I found an answer--not a permanent or correct solution for HP, but it actually works!

Push the power button once quickly to get the laptop into sleep mode, wait until it's totally asleep, then push the power button again to wake it up while tapping the wireless button like CRAZY. It works!

Again, not a permanent solution but temporary.

This is inexusable that we have to resort to this type of solution. Shame on HP and MS for not testing this properly.

Hello Lupiat64,

You need to connect to you home network.

The security key that it is asking for is on the bottom of your router.

Here is a link that will walk you through the steps to reconnect to you network.

If you did not set up your network the first time and you had your cable company do it, you might want to give them a call; sometimes they will change the password for your network.

Clicking the White Kudos star on the left is a way to say Thanks!

Let me know how everything goes.

Have a good day.

Haha!

I feel like such an idiot.  I couldn't figure this out for days, was using a straight ethernet cable connection.

It seems my "wireless network adapter" was disabled.  Just go to the Control Panel > Network and Sharing > Adapter Settings.  Right click on the wireless adapter and enable it.

And it works!

I also faced the same problem. Just click in the blue wifi kind of buttonon the toolbar and from there switch on the wifi if you are not able to do the same through the keypad.
