Hello DineshF,

Have you tried any of the suggestions in the document I linked to above?  How often does your notebook shut off unexpectedly?  What is your product number and operating system?

Thanks,

Hi,

Ya I actually did update the bios as suggested and for the most part it helped. Its not as frequent now but still does occur if more than one video is running especially on HDMI.

I'd say after about 2 hours of simultaneous video running or in and around that much time with video running starting and stopping, it'll reboot itself.

The product number is : A1Z87UA#ABC

OS: WIN7 Home Premium.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.  Please take a look at this document, and let's see if we can figure out what's making it reboot.

Please let me know if this helps.

Good luck!

I've been having the same issue with my laptop and it's doing my head in now. I also have a G6, and it will just intermittently switch itself off, or the screen will go pixelated and fragmented and I have to reset it. Sometimes it comes straight back on, other times I just get a black screen with the caps lock button flashing at 4 second intervals. My warranty ran out in January, and it was sent off for repair just before it ran out by PC World and I was told it was fixed and that there was a problem with the processor so that had been changed but it's still doing the same thing as before. Now my warranty has run out, I guess I'm going to have to pay for a repair out of my own pocket, which is extremely unfair seeing as the issue wasn't resolved properly with the first repair job. It's making me think twice about buying HP products in the future.

Hello vvvFARESvvv.  I understand your notebook shuts down while playing games.

Have you noticed the notebook getting hot before it shuts off?

First, you should make sure that the notebook's cooling system is free of dust and debris.  This document has instructions.

Have a great day!

Please, does anyone have a solution for my pavilion g6 laptop; When I raise the lid, it automatically starts up and shuts off after about 3 seconds and the power button does not respond...If I raise the lid and quickly lower it, the system boots and stays on but shuts off as soon as I raise the lid.
I would appreciate any help.
