Hello andreajwells,

I see that you are looking for instructions on installing a new hard drive.

Here is a link to the user guides for the computer. The instructions for replacing a hard drive begin on page 47 in the "Maintenance and Service Guide".

Here is a link to instructions for a different model HP computer but it is relatively the same and it includes a video.

Hi singleja77. Sounds like you should run a further test on the Hard Drive.
Here is a document showing you one way to test your Hard Drive.

Testing a Hard Disk from the BIOS:

If the hard drive test does not fail, you can go through this from start to finish.

Hi singleja77. Here is the document outlining the ways you can do a recovery.
Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7):

If you didn't make the discs or USB media, you might have to buy the recovery discs.

I have got the message " error code 10008" but I have some doubts because the Linux Fedora 20 is ranning correctly  and not the same for windows vista. Further, I am not able to reinstall Windows vista with the recovery discs. There is no recovery partitionon on the HDD because it was deleted to make room for data. I  uninstalled linux and format the hdd completely but I got always the same messages trying to reinstall Windows vista.

  1. Is there some help?
  2. Should I buy a new HDD?
  3. Have I to buy an HDD already preloaded by HP or buy any spare and install the operating system with the orinal disc from MS?

Thanks in advace for any help,
