hp pavilion dv7-4177nr boot up with black screen

My hp pavillion starts up on windows logo then a black screen I tried to start it in safe mode the only thing that works is f10 the setup utility help me

I have a hp dv7 and when i go to reload it with window 7,I get were it shows it loading then i can see my mouse but black screen, NEED HELP ANYONE ?:smileysad:

for me this was windows 7 would load, 

but just about when i was able to see

the desktop. boom powee black screen.

1) go into safe mode

2) disable video card drivers

3) reboot.. ignore ati drivers not installed warning

4) find somewhere on hp's site the upgraded bios.. think it's pretty generic and will work with alot of laptops

5) flash the bios.. cross fingers, all of them.

6) reboot

7) enable the ati video drivers.

.. and i'm guessing you should probably back up all of your stuff and do a factory restore..

Hi, I wanted to say thank you to the HP employee who gave me the solution to my problem. After downloading an HP update and hitting restart, my computer would start with just a black screen. Scared me to pieces! All my pics are on there, must be time to back them up, huh?  Anyway, I removed the battery, unplugged the AC adapter, hit the power button for 30 seconds, then put it all back together and hit the power button and it came on perfectly. I have done all the recommended items and my screen is still black. The cap light is blinking.

My Hp Pavilion dv7's screen is completely black .. I can only turn on the laptop while it is charging and when it turns on the screen is black and the sound mute & wifi icon is red .. HELP!

Wow...I feel like it's my lucky day. I just googled my screen is black after powering on and found this forum. Apparently I was registered from sometime back. although I tried battery out, I didn't hold the power button for 30 seconds. Last night the laptop dv6 started running so loud and got burning hot!! Good thing I was in front of it when this happened. I shut it right Down. This morning I had the black screen. It started up only after using these instructions!! I have so many pictures on here! Thank You. I am off to get a hard drive backup and cd's to copy my pictures!

I have the same problem with my HP Pavilion dv7-1 1 30us. Windows vista* Home premium 64-bit edition.

After normal use of it, always work properly besides noticing that it use to make lots of noise from time to time and the one day after tuning off as I would normally do, next time I turn it back on, it got stock with the black scren. It seems at the beging like if would start but then just stops and after a short time the caps lights start to blink. I did put it on the side for a good 6 months and one day after reading all the info on the web I decided to give it a shot and try again seee if it would start and then it did turn, I did not know why? or how ? , but it was working like nothing ever happened at least for a few couple weeks and then it did happen again. I did try to make it work and nothing, so I did put it on the side for a week and today as I am writting this message and after trying any thing possible that I read on the web including here as well, without me  understanding what , how or why, it just started againg and it works normal.

Could you help me to understand this please? and also what should I do to prevent the computer for getting stack again? or how to get it back to work if it happens again?
