You could look on eBay for a computer similar to yours, marked as "selling as-is, for parts, non-working", and cannibalize it, for the touchpad. Hopefully, very inexpensive ?!

I bought a wireless mouse works perfectly,, but I have now got another problem and its not the mouse as it happens with the usb one I borrowed, when I am typing the words are all jumbled up as the vertical line that denotes where the next character is going to be placed keeps going back to characters ive already typed so if I'm not reading and corecting as i go I end up with it all being jumbled!!!!!!!

You could have a "stuck" key on your keyboard (the "left-arrow" key).
Or, if your computer has a "touchpad" between the space-bar and the front-edge of the case, the palms of your hands could be brushing against the touchpad, and thus moving the mouse-pointer.

> have lost the use of my left and right touchpad buttons
The touchpad area usually is divided into 3 sections:
+-------------+-----------------+
| Left Button | Right Button |
| | |
+-------------+-----------------+
| |
| Touch-sensitive area |
| (slide your finger/palm |
| (here to move the |
| (on-screen mouse pointer) |
| |
+-------------------------------+
So, even when the "left" and "right" buttons are not working, it is possible that the 3rd area is still active, and is causing the mouse-pointer to move, when your palms touch this area.

I feel I must reiterate it happens when I am using a USB or wireless mouse my hands are nowhere near the left and right buttons, plus my buttons are configured different to your diagram they are at the bottom of the pad and I one finger type my palms are not in contact with any other part of the machine

Thanks for the additional information.
Does the "unexpected" movement of the mouse-pointer happen ONLY when you are typing, or does it happen when you are only using the external mouse?
If you attach an external keyboard to another USB port on the computer, and type on that keyboard, does the "unexpected" cursor-movement still occur?

not really sure I've only noticed it when im typing I'll try and find out next time I use it, I'm on a different laptop at the moment because of this problem,,, I have not got an external keyboard to try, I'm not going to the expense of buying one just on a whimm

Any keyboard with a USB connector will work.
Borrow one from a friend.
Or, take your laptop to a "big-box" electronics store, and try their keyboard on your computer.
If a sales assistant (sometimes hard to find in an understaffed store) approaches you,
tell that person that you are looking for one with the correct "feel", and that you need to try before you consider buying.
