When I tried installing manually from the Device Manager and searched for the software update, "Windows has determined that the driver softwarefor your device is up to date".  I've attached a screenshot of what we are getting.  We know that once this wireless driver is recognized then the wireless will work again.   Thank you for your help.

In the Device Manager, please click on the Network Controller that is shown in your screen shot, and post the hardware ID for it.

Use this guide for where to find the hardware ID.

Hi:

See if installing the latest driver directly from Mediatek (Ralink) fixes the problem.

http://www.mediatek.com/_en/07_downloads/01_windows.php

You want to download the driver from the first grouping of network adapters listed in the webpage.

You will have to enter your e-mail address and accept the agreement to download the driver.

Hi:

For your 2000-2d61tu, you need to install the Atheros wireless network adapter driver.

This should install the wireless card with the hardware ID of PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036.
