Just stumbled across this when Google'ing this issue.   Just bought a brand new HP - 1 week ago.  Has never charged.  Just did the ACPI Battery uninstsall thing  -   WORKS WONDERFULLY NOW!!!!     Thank you!

There is a newer BIOS version F.29, which i think is the latest.

Easyest way to install is via HP Support Assistent.

Alternatively, you can enter the model number on the support homepage and just look for the latest BIOS update.

NOTE: the bios update fixed this issue. The ticket can now be marked as solved.

Hi all,

Got a HP Pavillion dv7, Window VISTA. About 3 years old now.

  • Took Mumbodog's advice - no luck.
  • Battery is  '0% available (plugged in, not charging)', so if I take out the AC adaptor whilst it's plugged in, the laptop dies.
  • Checked for software update - nothing new.

Please help :catsad:

Its possible the battery needs replaced, they do eventually wear out and no longer take a charge.

I posted that this fix worked.   I spoke too soon.   This is a BRAND NEW HP Laptop.   Battery fix held for a few weeks.  Once again, it is NOT CHARGING.   And trying to contact HP sucks!     This is so frustrating.   I updated the BIOS again and it still is "Plugged in, not charging."    ANNOYING!!!

Have had the same issue since mid-summer. I, too, have done all the supposed "fixes" but my laptop is still not charging.

My LED light also blinks red for a few seconds and then turns white next to the dc jack. This morning I popped the battery in so I could move laptop to a new locaation to plug into ac power and noticed when I plugged ac cord in that it actually charged for 2-3 seconds before it stopped again. The LED also did not blink red, it stayed solid red during the 2-3 seconds just like it used to before it broke.

Now I know its the dc jack that is loose or broke, not my charger nor the battery!
