Hello @ripumgupta
Welcome to the HP Support forum. Welcome !
Do you have the recovery discs (recovery media) or you need to obtain one ?
Which country are you from ?
Could you provide your full product model and product number (PN) as described here > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108 ?
Here are general instructions how to perform recovery (Windows 😎 but if you provide some details I might be able to post something specific and/or instructions about the recovery media > http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=HPSystemRecovery.net§ion=ccweb&SFS=tdoc&language=english...

Thank you for the clarification.
If you do have HP recovery media and if you want Windows 8, you simply need to boot from them (1st one and then the rest) and follow the instructions.
Here are detailed instructions what needs to be done >> http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=HPSystemRecovery.net§ion=ccweb&SFS=tdoc&language=english...
Hope this works. Let me know if something is not clear.

What didn't work exactly ? This is a complex process.
It didn't boot from the recovery media, it started but failed ? Any specific error message ?

The HP recovery process has been pretty much the same in the past years and the foundations of the process haven't changed dramatically in the past years. Something else is different this time which makes you believe it is complex this time only.
It is generally easy to do it (child game for some) but it is easy when everything is working.
Literally, there could be tens of different things which may be wrong for you to experience problems at the moment.
(3F0) is a hard disk error which may appear because:
- either the BIOS is not correctly configured and your computer does not boot from correct device
or
- hardware failure - HDD failed / HDD is not present or not detected due to connection issues
This is the different aspect now.
Please, check this official article from HP > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443463
1) Test your HDD
2) Restore the BIOS to default
Please, perform some basic hardware checks
1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button
2. Power it on.
2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).
This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one
3. Choose F2 to open System Diagnostics. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform System Test >> Quick test.
This will check major hardware componets for issue (do it just in case) . Here is more info >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259#AbT1
If there are no system checks/no quick tests, perform HDD and RAM check.
Let me know the test results.
4. Repeat steps 1-2 above but when HP Startup menu opens, please choose F10 for BIOS setup.
Navigate through the BIOS and ensure you RESET your settings / LOAD default settings.
Save the changes and exit BIOS.
Details > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443463
Looking forward to your reply.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.
