SoundStation2 and Computer Calling Kit

Hi,

We have a SoundStation2 ("Avaya 2490" version) and just purchased the Computer Calling Kit (http://www.polycom.co.uk/products/voice/accessories/computer_calling_kit.html) in order to use the SS with Skype, etc. However, the Computer Calling Kit doesn't appear to work properly. When connected up, we can hear all computer sound output through the SS, as expected, but the microphone is not picking up, or at least, not sending it to the PC.

We've tried several different PCs (to rule out issues with particular makes/models of soundcard) but it makes no real difference. On one computer when recording the SS mic we did hear something very faintly, but it wasn't of sufficient volume to be of any use in Skype.

The SoundStation works fine stood alone for phone calls, and all the inbuilt mic tests are showing it picking up sound, it just doesn't seem to want to share it with the computer.

Could we just have a faulty Computer Kit cable? Or is there possibly a compatibility issue? Does the Computer Calling Kit work with ALL SoundStation2 models?

Our SoundStation2 Avaya 2490 is part number 2301-16375-601 and running software version SS2.CON.01.252.

The Computer Calling Kit we have been sent is part number 2200-07878-001 (on the packaging, at least - the cable itself has a sticker on which lists the part number as 2457-17240-001).

Any advice you can offer would be very much appreciated.

the Computer Calling Kit Website clearly states => here <=:

2200-17240-002 is included with the SoundStation2 and VoiceStation 500, and can also be used with the SoundStation with display model and the SoundStation IP 7000
2200-07878-001 is included with the SoundStation2W EX, and can also be used with the SoundStation2W Basic

as you mentioned you have the 2200-07878-001 checking against above it is not the correct cable.

Please liaise with your Polycom Reseller.

Ah, i see. Odd that the UK product page does not mention that there are two versions of the Computer Kit.

So it looks like i need the 2200-17240-002 part. However, it doesn't explicitly list the SoundStation2 Avaya 2490 as being compatible. Do you think it will be?

Hello - We own a SoundStation IP7000 and recently purchased the computer calling kit 2200-17240-002 (the correct one per the polycom site).  However, we have the issue with very low microphone volume back to the computer which thus far is making it unusable with our VoIP programs (Skype, Nefsis).  Would very much like to use the polycom with the computer.  Any thoughts?
