- Battery Draining While Docked for the Poly Savi 8400 Series
Issue: Headset powers on automatically when placed in the dock, leading to battery drain over time.
Overview
Some users have reported that their Poly Savi 8400 Series headset turns itself on as soon as it's placed in the charging dock. While this might seem like a convenience feature, it can cause the headset to stay powered on when it's not actually being used — which leads to the battery draining even while docked.
Affected Models
- Poly Savi 8410
- Poly Savi 8420
- Poly Savi 8445
- (This behavior may also affect similar models in the Savi 8200 series.)
What You Might Notice
- The headset powers on automatically when docked
- LED lights remain on, even when the headset isn't in use
- The battery doesn't fully charge or may even lose charge while docked
- The headset may feel warm after sitting in the dock for a long time
Why It Happens
By default, the headset may stay active depending on certain settings or if the dock contacts are not seated correctly. This can leave the headset powered on even when not needed, which leads to unnecessary battery drain.
How to Fix It
- Download and install Poly Lens from the official site: Click here
- Connect your headset to your computer via USB, or ensure the base is connected and recognized.
- Open the Poly Lens app and select your headset from the device list.
- Poly Lens > Select Headset > Settings > General > Ensure Audio Sensing is Enabled!
- Poly Lens > Select Headset > Settings > Wireless > Set “Headset to PC Radio Link” to “Active Only During Call.”
- Ensure the headset is docked properly — if proper contact is not made between the base and headset charging points, the headset may remain active.
- Remove the charge cradle once and reconnect it to ensure it is seated properly.
- Check the buttons on the base (PC, Mobile, Deskphone, Mute/Teams).
- If any LED is lit, press the button to turn it off.
- If needed, use the power button on the headset to manually turn it off after docking.
Confirming the Fix
- Dock the headset — it should stay off unless activated by the user.
- The headset should still power on normally using the power button.
Keep Firmware Updated
While in Poly Lens, check for firmware updates. Updates can resolve issues but may also reset certain settings. If the issue returns, repeat the steps above.
Additional Notes
- If firmware updates revert settings, re-apply the changes.
