Hello all,

HP Poly Introduced the new feature HP Direct Connect with PolyOS 4.7 for Studio X30, Studio X50, Studio X70 and G7500 using Microsoft Teams.

A future PolyOS 5.1 release will bring this to the Poly Studio X32, Poly Studio X52, Poly Studio X72 and Poly Studio G62

HP Direct Connect simplifies Microsoft Teams Rooms deployment by running Teams only on the Poly VideoOS system.

The Poly touch controller acts as a local control without requiring its own Microsoft Teams Rooms sign‑in or cloud pairing. This reduces setup complexity, lowers network and security risk, removes the probability of sign outs and pairing issues, and improves reliability while preserving the same end‑user experience.

Previous  PolyOS releases relied on the fact that a Paired Poly TC Touch Controller would need an instance of Microsoft Teams to run at the same time as on the actual Poly Video Device. They then paired via the Internet.

From PolyOS 4.7.0 onwards HP Direct Connect eliminates this and utilizes the Teams Console display to run virtually on the Front of Room FoR device via the local Network. This eliminates the need for a separate Microsoft Teams application to run on the TC device.

How do I enable this?

Navigate to General Settings > System Settings > HP Direct Connect and enable it.

Once this is enabled, a warning will make the user aware of the change.

This causes the Microsoft Teams application running on the TC Touch Panel to log out of the Microsoft TAC:

And only the Microsoft Teams application on the Front of Room FoR will be required to be logged in. You can still use Poly Lens to remotely access the Touch Console as described >here<
