- How to check the resolution my USB camera supports in compar...
Using a Poly or HP USB camera with an Application like Zoom, Microsoft Teams or others often leaves a user disappointed that an advertised USB 4K camera does not use 4K.
This can have multiple factors like the cable that is being used or the application at hand.
A community search finds posts >here<, >here< or >here<
How can a user verify the camera, the cable used, or the Application used with the Camera supports 4k / 3840x2160?
Using Poly Lens Desktop with a compatible camera (Poly Studio USB, Poly Studio P15, Poly Studio R30, HP 960 etc.) on a Windows PC or Apple Mac:
Via Controls > Preview the Poly Lens Desktop App itself can show the resolution supported by the device and cable being used:
The above will show the maximum possible resolution that can be achieved based on the PC or Apple Mac with the camera at hand.
3rd Party Applications like Apple Photo Booth (MacBook Pro Apple M1 running Sonoma 14.5 with 16GB memory)
may only be able to use 1920x1080
The above is a restriction with the Application used and not the camera or the cable. On MacBook, as an example, OBS Pro (Open Source) www.obsproject.com/download shows 3840x2160
Zoom (5.17.11 (31580) Windows 11 or MacBook Pro example (640x480):
Using Windows 11 and the built in Camera App shows the resolutions possible with the Camera App and the Cable being used:
In the above example the Camera App supports 3840x2160:
