HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw
Microsoft Windows 11

Toner cartridges have stopped working with the machine. Last one erupted all over my desk - fun - but fixed itself overnight. Now the Neverstop - ironic - wont let me turn the cartridge to start filling. How can this be fixed?

I have replaced the main printer cartridge once.

Hi @RWhit2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you’ve been having trouble with your HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw. After a toner cartridge burst and made a mess (thankfully resolved overnight), you're now unable to turn the new cartridge on to start the refill. You've already replaced the main cartridge once and are looking for a fix to get things working smoothly again.

You can follow these steps to resolve the problem:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Turn Off the Printer:
    • Ensure the printer is powered off by pressing the power button.

  2. Open the Toner Access Door:
    • Lift the toner access door to expose the toner cartridge area.

  3. Remove the Toner Cartridge:
    • Gently lift the old toner cartridge from its slot.

  4. Inspect the Toner Cartridge:
    • Check the cartridge for any signs of damage or toner leakage.
    • Clean any spilled toner using a lint-free cloth.

  5. Clean the Toner Area:
    • Wipe down the toner area inside the printer using a lint-free cloth to ensure no residue remains.
    • Avoid using any liquids as they can damage the internal components.

  6. Properly Align the Cartridge:
    • If you are having trouble turning the cartridge to start filling, make sure it is correctly aligned within the cartridge slot.
    • Ensure there is no obstruction preventing the cartridge from turning.

  7. Activate the Filling Mechanism:
    • Align the new toner container with the filling latch.
    • Rotate the container clockwise until it locks into place.

  8. Power On and Reset the Printer:
    • Close all doors properly and securely.
    • Power the printer back on and allow it to initialize.
    • If necessary, perform a reset by accessing the printer settings on the control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
