printer is printing double on same page, its printing what sheds

I understand you're experiencing an issue where your HP Color Laser MFP 178nw is printing double or shadowed text/images on the same page. This is often referred to as ghosting or double printing, and it can be caused by a few different factors. Let's walk through some steps to resolve this:

 

Check the Paper Type and Quality

  • Ensure you're using HP-recommended paper for laser printers.
  • Avoid damp, curled, or low-quality paper, as it can cause toner to not fuse properly.

Inspect the Toner Cartridge

  • Remove the toner cartridge and gently shake it side to side to redistribute the toner.
  • Check for any visible damage or toner leakage.
  • Reinstall the cartridge securely.

If the cartridge is low or defective, consider replacing it with a genuine HP toner cartridge.

 

Run the Cleaning Page

  • On the printer control panel, press the Settings or Setup button.
  • Navigate to Maintenance > Cleaning Page.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to print a cleaning page.

This helps remove excess toner buildup inside the printer.

 

Update Printer Firmware and Drivers

  • Outdated firmware or drivers can cause print quality issues.
  • Download the latest drivers and firmware for your printer from the HP website:

Check Fuser Unit (Advanced)

  • If ghosting persists, the fuser unit may not be heating properly. Then, we suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.

    (Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)
