I am using the HP Deskjet 4155e.  I recently stopped my instant ink subscription.  I bought a 2-pack of 67XL cartridges, before realizing both cartridges were black.

My question is:  Can I use 2 black cartridges simultaneously in this printer?

I have a constant e0 error on the panel, regardless if I remove the 2nd cartridge or add it.  So, 2 black produces the error and 1 black/1 empty produces the error.  Why would 2 Black cartridges be packaged together?

Hi @FreakyGeek,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Unfortunately, you cannot use two black ink cartridges simultaneously in the HP DeskJet 4155e printer. The printer requires one black cartridge and one tri-color cartridge for it to function properly. The constant e0 error you're seeing is likely due to the printer not recognizing a color cartridge in the tri-color slot.

As for why two black cartridges were packaged together, it's common for stores or manufacturers to sell multipacks of the same type of ink for convenience or cost savings, especially for users who print a lot of black-and-white documents. However, this packaging would typically be intended for separate replacements, not simultaneous use.

To resolve the e0 error, you’ll need to replace one of the black cartridges with a color cartridge (67 or 67XL). Once the correct ink setup is in place, the printer should function normally.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
