Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My deskjet 2652 inkjet printer all of a sudden wont print black ink, only color. Cartridges were only half gone but I cleaned the heads and re inserted them. Didnt solve the issue. Bought a new black cartridge and installed. the alignment sheet also not printing in black. I  also cant make copies. if I print from my laptop, it prints in color and black ends up being light blue. Hoping I dont have to replace the printer! Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi @CherH,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already taken some good troubleshooting steps. Since you've replaced the black ink cartridge and cleaned the printheads with no improvement, there might be a few other things to try.

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the new black ink cartridge is properly inserted and recognized by the printer. Sometimes cartridges might not make a good connection, leading to unrecognized ink levels or printing issues.
  • Run Printer Diagnostic Tests: Most printers have built-in diagnostic tests that can help identify and solve common issues. Check your printer's user manual or online documentation for instructions on how to run these tests.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause printing problems. You can usually find the latest drivers on the HP website.
  • Reset Printer: Try resetting your printer to its factory settings. This can sometimes resolve software or firmware glitches that are causing printing issues. Again, refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible there could be a hardware problem with the printer itself, such as a faulty printhead.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Good, morning! I did all of the above except updating the print drivers. Another person said that when he removed the color, cartridge, the black cartridge worked.  I tried that with success but, cannot use the color. He said it meant a software issue. I will try to update the drivers next. Thanks for your response!
