HP DeskJet 2710e All-in-One Printer

2710e printer not printing black cartridge AFTER changing cartridge and cleaning the head. What makes it even worse is that the old cartridge printed perfectly to show the printer page to tell me that my payment needs updating from which it is not now printing in black on the old or new black cartridge!

Hi @Lester36,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2710e All-in-One Printer is not printing with the black cartridge, even after changing the cartridge and cleaning the printhead, here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Cartridge Authenticity

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges. Non-genuine or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause issues.

Inspect the Cartridges

  • Examine the contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer for dirt or damage. Clean gently with a lint-free cloth and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol.
  • Confirm the new black cartridge is correctly installed and securely clicked into place.

Perform a Printer Reset

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and power it on. Sometimes, resetting can resolve minor glitches.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Using the HP Smart App or your computer:
    • Check if your printer has a firmware update pending.
    • Install the update if available, as it may fix known issues.

Run a Diagnostic Report

  • From the printer control panel or HP Smart app, print a diagnostic page to check if the printer detects the cartridge correctly.
  • If black ink is missing from the diagnostic print, it suggests a printhead or cartridge-related problem.

Deep Clean the Printhead

  • Use the printer's "Clean Printhead" or "Deep Clean" feature. This process may resolve clogs in the black ink nozzles.
  • Access this through the printer software or HP Smart app.

Test with a Different Cartridge

  • If possible, test with another new black cartridge. The current cartridge might be defective.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
