ENVY
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My ENVY 4500 reports "Incompatible Cartridge(s)" when replacing an old HP 301XL Black to another identical 301XL.

HP original of course. The new one has Warranty until Oct. 2022.

I have tested cleaning contacts, re-boting the printer by power-off for 60 seconds. No result.

If I put back the old Cartridge, it is accepted as valid, but empty.

Next problem is that the 3-color Cartridge is also low, and that I have a new spare for that also. Same Warranty date Oct. 2022

Expensive to buy 2 XL Cartridges, finding one (probably both) not working in my printer.

How can this be solved?

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting cartridge error.

If you have tried all the steps mentioned in this HP document:- Click here

And if the issue still persists, this could be a cartridge issue.
