Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I recently purchased a HP Deskjet 3720 which is listed as requiring 65 ink cartridges.

I have purchased 304 ink cartridges which are stated to work for this printer by HP, but the printer is mot accepting the cartridges.

The 65 colour cartridge still works but the new ones does not.

Both 304 cartridges are genuine HP cartridges.

Thanks, Sam

Hi @Sam199810,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Deskjet 3720 printer is not accepting the 304 cartridges, there are a few steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

  • Check if the cartridges are compatible: Make sure that you have purchased the correct cartridges for your printer. The HP Deskjet 3720 uses HP 304 cartridges, and there are different versions of these cartridges available, so double-check that you have the right one for your printer.
  • Clean the cartridge contacts: Sometimes, the contacts on the cartridges can become dirty or dusty, preventing the printer from recognizing them. Gently clean the contacts on both the cartridges and the printer using a clean, lint-free cloth.
  • Reset the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This will reset the printer and may resolve the issue.
  • Update the printer firmware: Check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer and install them. This can help resolve any software-related issues that may be preventing the printer from recognizing the cartridges.
  • Replace the cartridges: If none of the above steps work, you may need to replace the cartridges with new ones. Sometimes, cartridges can become faulty or damaged, and there's no way to fix them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

None of the above has worked 😞

The printer originally came with 65 ink cartridges, I believe this may have been from in a different country.

Is there a way to reset the printer to accept 304 cartridges as these are the same but simply the European/Uk version?

Further update, when I reset by holding the power button then holding cancel, releasing cancel then the power button, the printer prints the test page

However, after printing the test page, the printer resorts back to cartridges not being recognised

Hi @Alden4

I still cannot see the private message button, only virtual support which does not help me.
