Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My 304XL cartridge does not print cyan although the printer reports that it is 50% full.  Having been through all the troubleshooting suggestions on the HP web site (printhead cleaning and print quality diagnostics page) and having no success I replaced the cartridge with one that I have as spare.

 

Both old and new are "out of warranty" because I always buy a spare as soon as one runs out.  They were purchased in 2019 and 2020.  I learned this from the virtual assistant while trying to troubleshoot.  I had previously assumed a 12 month warranty from the date of installation as I have had with other products, not from date of cartridge manufacture!  I haven't used instant ink because it is too expensive for my intermittent use (lots of use followed by long periods of printing not much - typical home usage).

 

The online help has not allowed me to discuss this with a person - very frustrating because I do feel I should be due a replacement as the warranty was not explained at the time of purchase, the HP shop just says that

"genuine HP cartridges": "Designed to work the first time, every time Be assured that HP Original Cartridges will consistently deliver quality results and premium performance.[c]"

 

This hasn't been my experience.  Please can an HP employee address this question.
