I have been using 3rd party cartridges since I purchased my printer.  I have a bunch of them, I purchase in bulk.

I just updated my printer driver not realizing it was going to install "Dynamic security" which seems to have rendered all of these cartridges worthless.   This is crazy.

I can't find anywhere to download old firmware or roll this back.  There must be a solution for this.  I thought, after court cases, it was determined that HP could not force us to use HP ink in their printers?

Does anyone know the solution?  Thanks.

Has anyone experienced this? Bumping it up.  I really need some help, can't print anything.  Thanks.

I think the new firmward updates also kill the new ink. My new ink also got empty level.

However, if you press the "i" button to print, every color is fine even it shows "low level" or "illegal cartridge"

I don't think I have an "i" button.

Is there really no solution to this?  No alternate firmware or a setting or something?  I have a ton of ink I've purchased in bulk and it's useless right now.  I would just rollback my firmware but I don't see any option for that.

I need some help.

Sorry for that. I was like you trying to search for the old firmware.

But I think the policy of HP is quite obviously:

PLEASE USE HP OFFICIAL CARTRIDGE ONLY.

I've already switched to Ecotank machine from other brand since HP don't give a care about this. I will advise you try to refund the 3rd-party cartridge and stay away from HP anymore. I think, like HP304, only support around 200 pages per cartridge. But a ecotank will support you 10K+.

HP Support, is this really the only option?  HP ink or nothing?

Had I known I would never have run the firmware update.  There is no way to roll back firmware?

Still having this issue, no response from HP support.
