So, HP makes it extremely difficult to use 3rd party ink cartridges claiming they are "incompatible". I had used the same cartridges for many years. I have been an HP customer for over 25 years, and today, I am putting my HP Officejet 8600 premium all in one in the trash. If I have to buy only HP ink cartridges, this printer becomes far too expensive to own. I will now swap out all HP products (laptops, printers etc which in most cases purchasing a brand new different name printer is less expensive than replacing ink in my printer using HP cartridges ) for all new equipment, non-HP brand. I will save money in the long run by getting rid of all products that are HP. I will not be dictated with what I can use in products I paid for and own. Period. Ever. Thanks for the years HP...but time to move on to the free world without all the hidden time bombs in drivers and firmware to force people into buying your supplies.

Hi @Kristy101,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your printer cartridges. We always recommend using genuine HP ink cartridges.
I see that you have an issue using non-HP ink cartridges on your printer.

If you are using generic or Non HP ink cartridges and the above links do not help. You will have to contact the generic ink cartridge manufacturer to assist you further with it or you will have to use genuine HP ink cartridges to resume printing.
