Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer (HP M277dw) refuses to use third party cartridges. I was under the impression that HP is now required to allow such use (Impression Products, Inc. v. Lexmark International, Inc.). Can you please help.

I understand you are not able to use non-HP ink toners. Let us try these steps:

 

Update the printer firmware- 

Download available firmware updates from the HP website 

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware 

 

The third-party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it's not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works. 

 

If the issue persists, I suggest you use HP ink toners. You may visit Hp Store to check for compatible ink toners.
