My aunt gave me this printer but it may be no use to me. The only reason I needed it was to print off Black and White 4x5 Glossy Labels.
The printer has been sitting and dust is all over it. I installed HP program yesterday and it prints text fine. When I used my label paper the graphics was extremely dull and not vibrant compared when I use a commercial Zerox machine.
She also gave me a box that had 2 unopend toner 80X from HP brand. According to the program it said it had 80% left in the one that came in the printer. I took it out and opened up a new toner cartridge just to see what it does. And I got the same results. What do i need to do.
The labels are glossy and what I'm getting is this flat black print. Compared to my Zerox I have at work which is a crisp shiny black when applied to the same label.
Any ideas or suggestion. Is the printer doing what its supposed to do. I understand this is an older printer 2014 but given how big it is and how expensive the Hp toner is. It doesn't meet my expectations for sure. I would rather toss this unit if its not something I can fix.
Is this normal or should the pigment be Super crisp and black.

What model of Xerox are you using at work? Are the labels you are using certified for laser? Are you setting the paper settings to glossy label? The toner itself is not typically "shiny" but gets that gloss look from the media. Ink and wax printers will always look shinier in part due to the formulation of ink and wax. Pro level printers also tend to provide higher end finishing.
