Hi @doos13,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’re having trouble with the 67/305 cartridges not working in your new printer. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Verify Cartridge Compatibility
Check Model Compatibility:
- Printer Manual: Ensure the cartridges you received are compatible with your specific printer model. Refer to your printer's manual or the HP website for the correct cartridge model.
Cartridge Specifications:
- Correct Cartridge Series: Make sure you received the right series (67 or 305) as per your printer’s requirement.
2. Inspect the Cartridges
Check for Damage:
- Visual Inspection: Examine the cartridges for any visible damage or defects. Look for any signs of leakage or broken parts.
Remove Protective Tape:
- Remove Tape: Ensure that all protective tape or plastic covers have been removed from the cartridge contacts before installation.
3. Clean Cartridge Contacts
Turn Off Printer:
- Power Down: Make sure your printer is turned off and unplugged before handling the cartridges.
Clean Contacts:
- Use Lint-Free Cloth: Gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth. If necessary, lightly dampen the cloth with distilled water.
4. Reinstall the Cartridges
Proper Installation:
- Follow Instructions: Reinstall the cartridges according to the printer’s manual. Ensure they are inserted correctly and firmly.
Check Alignment:
- Align Properly: Make sure the cartridges are properly aligned and seated in their slots.
5. Update Printer Firmware
- Check for Updates:
- Firmware Updates: Go to the HP Support website and check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer model. Updating firmware can resolve compatibility issues.
6. Perform Printer Maintenance
Run Printer Diagnostics:
- HP Print and Scan Doctor: Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix printer issues.
Printer Cleaning:
- Maintenance: Use the printer’s built-in cleaning functions to ensure the printhead is not clogged.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
