Hi @JENG06,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's unfortunate that the 678 tri-color cartridge didn't work with your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2515 printer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the issue:

1. Ensure Compatibility:

  • While the 678 tri-color cartridge may be compatible with some HP printers, it's essential to verify its compatibility specifically with the HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2515 model. Check the printer's user manual or visit the HP website to confirm compatible ink cartridges for your printer model.

2. Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the cartridge is properly installed in the printer. Open the printer cover, remove the old cartridge (if present), and insert the new 678 tri-color cartridge firmly into the cartridge slot until it clicks into place.

3. Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Sometimes, poor electrical contacts between the cartridge and the printer can prevent proper communication. Turn off the printer, remove the cartridge, and gently clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and the printer with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol. Allow them to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.

4. Reset Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Plug the printer back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer and resolve cartridge recognition issues.

5. Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download any available firmware updates. Follow the instructions provided to install the updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
