On my second 7955e printer in as many weeks. Problematic as hell! Now this one, with brand new cartridges, won't print color. Print alignment fails. There is no 'Clean Cartridges' option. The online support portal goes in a loop. No one at HP will help!
Can anyone?

@Pacer99, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It seems like you're experiencing issues with color printing and print alignment on your HP ENVY Inspire 7955e All-in-One Printer. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve these problems:
Verify Genuine HP Cartridges: Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-HP or refilled cartridges can cause print quality issues and alignment failures. You can check the authenticity of your cartridges through the HP Anti-Counterfeit webpage.
Check Ink Levels: Make sure that the ink levels are sufficient in the cartridges. This can be checked from the printer software or by printing a printer status report.
Align the Printer Cartridges:
- Go to the printer software.
- Click on "Print & Scan" and then "Maintain Your Printer" to access the Printer Toolbox.
- Click "Align Ink Cartridges" under the Device Services tab.
- The printer will print an alignment sheet. Follow the instructions to complete the alignment process.
Print a Diagnostics Page:
- Load unused plain white paper in the paper tray.
- Access the printer software and select "Print Diagnostic Information."
- Review the color and black boxes for streaks or missing ink.
Clean the Print Cartridges Manually:
- If automatic cleaning options are not available, you might need to clean the ink cartridge manually. Follow instructions from the printer's user guide for manual cleaning procedures.
Re-install Cartridge: Remove and then reinstall the cartridges, ensuring they are properly seated.
Run HP Smart:
- Download and run the HP Smart. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
- Refer: Use Diagnose & Fix in HP Smart to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
