Hi @jpmenge,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to encounter a supply system problem with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer despite using genuine HP cartridges. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve this issue.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed. Sometimes, reseating them can help establish a better connection.
  • Remove the cartridges and carefully inspect them for any protective tape or packaging that might still be attached.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Allow the contacts to dry for 10 minutes before reinserting the cartridges.

Update Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. You mentioned your software is up-to-date, but it's good to double-check this through the printer's control panel or HP's support website.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Ensure there are no obstructions or debris inside the printer that could be causing connectivity issues with the cartridges.

These steps should help troubleshoot and potentially resolve the supply system problem you're experiencing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
