901 XL remanufactured cartridge not working   it did initially but after a few printings stopped

If your HP 901XL remanufactured cartridge initially worked but then stopped functioning after a few prints, there might be several reasons for this issue, and you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

 

Check Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridge is compatible with your printer model. The HP 901XL is generally used with HP Officejet 4500 series printers.

Inspect Cartridge Installation: Remove the cartridge and reinsert it to ensure that it is properly seated in the printer. Sometimes, reseating the cartridge can solve connectivity issues.

Verify Cartridge and Slot Label Colors: Make sure the labels match, indicating that the cartridge has been correctly installed.

Clean Cartridge Contacts: Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the cartridge contacts and the corresponding contacts in the printer. Avoid using materials that could leave residue.

Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect it from power, wait for about 1 minute, then reconnect and turn it back on. This can help reset any errors.

Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. Sometimes, new updates can affect compatibility with third-party or remanufactured cartridges.

Try a Different Cartridge: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, try using another HP 901XL cartridge (preferably an original HP cartridge) to determine if the problem is with the cartridge itself.

Check Dynamic Security: The printer might be using dynamic security, which can sometimes affect non-HP cartridges. For optimal performance, genuine HP cartridges are recommended.
