HP OfficeJet Pro 6978

I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer. Last month while opening a new HP 902Xl black ink cartridge it leaked and spilled all over (after pulling orange tab off). After I cleaned up the mess I installed the ink cartridge in the printer. BIG MISTAKE! The black got clogged, wouldn't print black and now there is a pool of black ink inside of printer. HP customer service is TERRIBLE. I have spent hours typing with the virtual assistant, calling bogus 800 # and reading Support threads. My warranty is out so I can't get a claim #. Can't talk to a human without a claim #. So what am I suppose to do? HP's faulty ink cartridge has trashed my printer- they need to replace.
