Are 936 and 937 cartridges interchangeable?

No, HP 936 and 937 ink cartridges are not interchangeable. These cartridges are designed for different printer models, and HP uses region-locked and model-specific cartridge systems. Even if they look similar physically, the printer firmware will reject a cartridge that is not specifically compatible with that model.
 

For example:

  • HP 936 cartridges are typically used in certain OfficeJet Pro 9700 series printers.
  • HP 937 cartridges are used in different regional variants or newer models of the same series, such as the OfficeJet Pro 9730e 
     

Always refer to your printer’s manual or check HP’s official Which cartridges work with my HP printer? | HP® Support to ensure you're using the correct cartridge for your specific model.
