When did HP "update" the 951 cartridges so they do not work in an Officejet 8600?

No update on the cartridges, 950 and 951 can still be used in OJ 8600 series.

Not in mine.  The cartridges report as damaged, out of ink, depleted, counterfeit, etc. Responses change depending on the mood of the printer, but they all end with "remove them and replace with new cartridges.".  These are all only genuine HP.  They are zone 10, which is the correct zone for my location.  I click through all the info messages, but the result is always the same, they show as empty on the ink gauge teardrops when I try to print and it tells me to replace them. I have gone through 8 full sets of new HP cartridges.

Everything was fine until I ran out of yellow ink and decided to put in 4 new cartridges.

I have cleaned the printer head and the contacts on each cartridge ( all 32 of them)!

It still scans.

An HP employee told me HP had updated the cartridges and they no longer function on my printer and... I should just buy a new printer.  If I do, it will be a cold day in Hades before I buy an HP.
