Hi. I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 that I bought when I lived in the US for 6 years & brought back to the UK when I moved home last year.
I need new print cartridges but the 952XL black cartridge is £155 on amazon UK which is pretty extortionate. I did a bit of research & found out that the UK equivalent of this cartridge is the 953XL which is just £43 on amazon UK, but apparently it won’t work in my printer until HP tell me how to do the conversion.
Tried chatting to the support team but they said my warranty ended in 2019 & sent me to this community as my only source of support.
Anyone know how to fix this? It’s still a perfectly functional printer & I’d hate to add to the burden of global plastic waste at the tip just because of the country code on a print cartridge!?!
Thanks!

Hi @Joffa13,
Welcome to the HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I understand you have moved and the printer is not accepting the new region cartridges.
We need to perform a regional reset on the printer to resolve this issue.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I have sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
