First of my wife bought me an Inkjet 4100 series printer for Christmas 2021 (took me 6 months to even open it), it never printed with a brand new ink cartridge. I replaced the cartridge with HP 67 Black/Tri-color Ink, which I purchased from Amazon. The printer started printing lovely. I guess the ink was expired or something in a brand new printer. So meanwhile after only a few prints (of the Amazon purchased ink), no more than 10 pages, my "Black" ink is low now and will not print., the color is full, the black is low. This really seems like I've been robbed twice, I feel really bad about this, I've only had HP printers; All-In-one printers and I really feel mistreated. I don't want free stuff, all I want is what's mine, and someone has taken what is mine, twice now.

Hi @JimWick,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
Try updating the Firmware by selecting the current OS.
Let's try these steps:
Step 1: Check the ink levels
- On the printer control panel, touch the ink level icon
- Check the ink levels.
- If the ink levels are fine, proceed to the next step. If depleted replace the cartridge.
Step 2: Power Reset
- Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
- Turn the printer on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on. The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
- Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
- Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.
- Try to print/copy
- If the issue persists, proceed to the next level
Step 3: Remove and clean the ink cartridges.
- Gather the following materials:
Dry foam rubber swabs, lint-free cloth, or any soft material that does not come apart or leave fibers (coffee filters work well)
Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might contain contaminants that can damage the cartridges)
press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
Open the cartridge access door
The cartridges would move to the middle
Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Remove the ink cartridges
Hold the cartridge by its sides.
Lightly moisten a foam-rubber swab or lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess water from it.
Clean only the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge, and then allow the cartridge to dry for about 10 minutes.
Copper-colored contacts
Ink nozzles (do not clean)
Lightly moisten another foam-rubber swab or lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then squeeze any excess water from it.
Use the swab or cloth to clean the electrical contacts in the cartridge slots, located inside the carriage in the printer.
Allow the carriage contacts to dry for about 10 minutes.
Reinsert the cartridges
Close the cartridge access door
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Power on the printer.
Try to print/copy
