HP Deskjet 6940 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a DeskJet 6940 that is a real work horse.  I'm not interested in buying a new one. It appears that HP has discontinued the HP 96 (black) ink cartridge and I can only find expired or remanufactured products.  The HP website says that it has been replaced by HP 98.  Most all the bulk packages contain HP 98 and HP 95.  So my question is:  Are these compatible with my printer?

Hi,

According below support document, your printer supports the following ink cartridges only, it does not work with any other ink cartridge:

However, according below specifications it seems that HP 95 and 98 cartridges does support your printer model:

Which one is correct? a good question, I would assume that the bottom is correct and these are indeed supported by your printer from my experience, but I will try to verify that as I can..
