@vickierenea, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Check the Ink Cartridge: Even though it's a new cartridge, it's worth checking if it’s installed properly. Make sure the protective tape has been completely removed from the cartridge, as leaving it on can block the ink flow.
Reinstall the Cartridge: Try removing and reinstalling the black ink cartridge. Sometimes, a poor connection can cause it not to register properly. Ensure it's seated firmly in place.
Check for Ink Flow: Use the printer’s control panel or HP Smart software to check for ink flow issues. Many printers have a diagnostic tool that can check the ink flow.
Clean the Printhead: Sometimes the printhead gets clogged, even with a new cartridge. Go to the printer's settings and select the option to clean the printhead. You might need to do this multiple times to see results. Alternatively, you can try cleaning the printhead manually with a soft lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water.
Print a Test Page: Print a test page to see if there is any output from the black ink cartridge. If there's no ink, this could indicate a problem with the cartridge itself or the printer’s internal mechanisms.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
