My printer will not print clearly. It has black lines up and down the page covering up the document. HOWEVER, the same printer will scan and fax in and out clearly.

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Please print a Quality Diagnostic Page and let me know if you see those lines

  1. Load plain white paper into the input tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, touch the Right Arrow () to display additional options.

  3. Touch Setup (), touch the Down Arrow (), and then touch Reports.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report. The Print Quality Diagnostics Report prints.
